Blue Spark Foundation

The Cambridge Girls Chess Initiative was set up to teach and promote chess playing to young girls. The founders believe that showing girls that activities such as chess, maths and computer programming can be fun is an excellent first step in addressing deeply ingrained gender imbalances in our education system and workplaces. BlueSpark provided CGCI with funds to enable girls participating in the initiative to enter tournaments and to pay for coaching sessions from top level coaches (who despite their credentials all worked for a reduced fee).
