Blue Spark Foundation

BlueSpark provided support for the participation of King’s Youth Theatre, Portsmouth in National Theatre Connections, a nationwide programme to encourage young people to engage with new plays, push boundaries with regard to their performance styles and range and to see new plays performed by other youth theatre groups. Participation in this nationally recognised performing arts scheme involved the young people choosing a play, developing their performance styles and discussing the play and their performance decisions with a nationally recognised theatre director. A comprehensive report was then used as the basis for developing their work before putting on a regional performance at the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis. This was an exciting opportunity for the young people and allowed them to gain new skills and build confidence as well as providing material for their personal development portfolios for Arts Awards and experience of working in different theatre environments.
